The new version of GuardianEdge Removable Storage will be available on August 27, 2007.

The business productivity benefits of utilizing removable storage devices are clear, but so are the risks they pose to the security of the data that resides on them. With GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption, enterprises and government agencies can extend endpoint data protection to USB memory sticks, portable hard drives, and other high-capacity portable data storage devices. GuardianEdge Removable Storage version 2.1 extends this protection to CDs and DVDs and includes enhancements that facilitate easier portability of encrypted data.

>> What’s New with 2.1

CD/DVD Encryption

CD and DVD encryption is now available, ensuring that data written to CDs/DVDs is encrypted, while delivering the flexibility to distribute or back up the data that is protected. The encrypted CDs/DVDs can be accessed both from computers with or without GuardianEdge Removable Storage installed.

Self-extracting Encrypted Files

Self-extracting files provide an easy way to distribute encrypted data on storage devices and through email. Recipients of self-extracting files simply click the file and enter the correct password to decrypt and access the file. No special software is required.

Policy-driven Automatic Distribution of the Access Utility

The automatic copying feature provides an easy way for the utility to be installed on devices on which encrypted data has been saved.

The Access Utility:
  • Gives users access to encrypted data on devices from computers that do not have Removable Storage installed.
  • Encrypts unencrypted data from computers that do not have GuardianEdge Removable Storage installed.

Encrypt Plaintext Files Previously Stored on Removable Media

Administrators can now choose whether they want unencrypted files that are brought into their company on removable storage devices to be encrypted. This allows administrators to choose between allowing users to keep their personal data on devices in unencrypted form and making sure that all data on devices is encrypted.
