GuardianEdge Data Protection Platform Selected by the General Services Administration Federal SmartBUY Initiative
Complete GuardianEdge Endpoint Data Protection Suite Chosen as a Preferred Encryption Solution for Protection of Government Data at Rest Storage Devices
SAN FRANCISCO – June 18, 2007--GuardianEdge, the leading provider of endpoint data protection for the enterprise, today announced that the company’s GuardianEdge Data Protection Platform was selected as a preferred encryption software solution for the General Services Administration SmartBUY initiative by the Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI) Data At Rest Tiger Team (DARTT). After a rigorous assessment, GuardianEdge endpoint encryption has been certified for its ability to protect all Data at Rest (DAR) storage devices including hard drives, tablet PCs, smart phones, PDAs and removable storage devices.
“We are pleased to be included in the SmartBUY initiative for the protection of DAR storage devices, and are prepared to offer state and local governments as well as federal agencies an unparalleled level of endpoint protection. Our proven track record of providing successful endpoint protection solutions has been demonstrated by our ongoing work in the public sector, including our recent U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs deployment. We have built our reputation on the ability to meet the demands of both government organizations and the largest private enterprises,” said Robert McLernon, vice president and general manager, federal operations for GuardianEdge.
Under this initiative, GuardianEdge will be listed as a chosen vendor for DAR encryption products, professional services and maintenance for a period of five years. This selection builds on the company’s proven success in protecting public sector organizations. GuardianEdge was also awarded recognition on the U.S. Army Information Assurance Approved Product List (AIAAPL) in January 2007.
“Everyday, government offices at the local, state and federal level deal with sensitive information that if accessed by the wrong group, could be damaging to the agency involved and the citizens that it serves. Recent headlines surrounding data theft and loss have raised both government and public awareness around the value of sensitive content,” said Jay Foreman, senior vice president of worldwide sales at GuardianEdge. “We have dedicated ourselves to ensuring that GuardianEdge solutions completely protect the endpoint and can be both easily deployed and managed by the IT infrastructure.”
GuardianEdge, founded in the United States in 1984, fully supports the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) June 2006 memorandum which required that all federal agencies implement DAR protection by encrypting all data on mobile computer and devices, using two-factor authentication, implementing a time-out function for all remote computer access, and logging all extracts from databases holding sensitive information.
