General Questions
1) What does the GuardianEdge Altiris Connector do?
The GuardianEdge™ Altiris Connector provides integration for GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption and GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption with the Altiris® Notification Server™. Three core capabilities are enabled with this integration:
- Monitor the environment for systems that are a data loss risk
- Create and deploy GuardianEdge software installation packages for GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption and GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption
- Report on the data protection status of systems and installations
2) How is the GuardianEdge Altiris connector installed?
On a single server, customers:
- First install the Altiris Notification Server software
- Then install the GuardianEdge Management Console and GuardianEdge Server software on the same machine
- And finally install the GuardianEdge Altiris Connector on that same server
3) How is the GuardianEdge software deployed using Altiris?
For new installations or updates, administrators:
- Create a new GuardianEdge Framework package (.msi file) from the Altiris Notification Server
- Deploy this software package using standard deployment methods, including the “Rollout” feature in the Altiris Notification Server
- Create a new GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption or Removable Storage Encryption package (.msi files) from the Altiris Notification Server
- Deploy this software package using standard deployment methods, including the “Rollout” feature in the Altiris Notification Server
- Monitor the progress of installation from the Altiris Notification Server
4) Is GuardianEdge Altiris Connector available as a standalone product (without other GuardianEdge products)?
The GuardianEdge Altiris Connector requires the purchase of either GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption of GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption.
The following versions of GuardianEdge products can be deployed directly through the Altiris Notification Server:
- GuardianEdge Hard Disk 9.1.0 (or later)
- GuardianEdge Removable Storage 3.1.0 (or later)
Monitoring and reporting services are available for the following versions:
- GuardianEdge Hard Disk version 8.2.0 (or later)
- GuardianEdge Removable Storage 2.0.0 (or later)
5) Does the GuardianEdge Altiris Connector require any additional software to be deployed to end users?
As long as PC clients are running a supported version of GuardianEdge products, there are no changes to the end user environment required when the Altiris Connector software is installed.
6) Which versions of the Altiris Notification Server are supported?
The GuardianEdge Altiris Connector requires the purchase of either GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption of GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption.
The following are supported by GuardianEdge Altiris Conector v1.0:
